It has now been 2 years since the release of “Kony2012”. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of it in some way or form. It is still surreal to think how POMEE started as a tiny travel blog and exploded into something much bigger. I never wrote “KONY2012: Causing More Harm Than Good” with the intent for it to get as much attention as it did.
I have appreciated all of the feedback, support, and constructive criticism. POMEE was able to grow and become part of a much bigger and more meaningful dialogue (even with The New York Times & Forbes). However, the space has also become a bit too political and academic for my blogging comfort.
As for the blog, I would like to respect what POMEE has become and leave the “Kony2012” posts, but I have decided to delete all of my other posts. To continue with this dialogue, please continue to check with Un-Cover The Night, Making Sense of Kony, and MISR. As for me, I have decided to blog elsewhere away from the overwhelming glare of POMEE. Maybe I will see you around, if you can find me…
Anyways, I would like to end with just this — If nothing else, this entire experience has been reassuring that most of us are actually critical thinkers and concerned citizens for peace. Hopefully all of the chaos around “Kony2012” can be a used as a lesson towards more thoughtful and responsible activism.
Thank you again & Apwoyo matek.
